Most kids just want to fit in. Jason Blake, an autistic twelve year old, can just be himself. Holding still, looking people in the eye when they talk and waiting are difficult for him. He has trouble deciphering the difference between what people say and what they really meant to say. But one thing Jason can do really well is write. He writes his stories on his computer and posts them on a site called Storyboard. When a girl named PhoenixBird writes a response to one of his stories, Jason’s world begins to change. Read Anything But Typical by Nora Raleigh Baskin.

I just finished The 39 Clues Book Seven The Viper’s Nest by Peter Lerangis. Looks like book eight has also been published and book nine will be available in 43 days. I am wondering how many books there will be in the series.

I am now reading Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin. Minli, the daughter of Chinese peasants, leaves home to try to change her family’s fortune. Chinese folktales and fairy tales are woven into this wonderful book. The author claims that as a child she tried to disregard her Asian heritage, but her wise parents left brand new books of Chinese fairy tales and folktales on the bookshelf. She was unable to ignore the lure of the new books and devoured the stories. I noticed on the end papers of the book that she has also written The Year of the Rat. Because I am enjoying this book so much, I’ll need to read it also.
